This composition uses a clever arrangement of negative space to confuse the viewer. When looking at the composition from one angle, it appears that there are two faces yet from the other, there is just a cup. The use of negative space helps guide your eye. The more black there is, the more you see the faces. The more white there is, the better you can make out the cup in the middle.
