Triangles In Art

By Leonardo Da Vinci

The use of triangles is a very powerful tool in art. Obviously, we all know this painting. The Mona Lisa is one of the most famous paintings in history and it shines because of the simplistic use of the triangle. As seen in the picture, the triangle has been highlighted to show where it would be placed in the composition. A triangle is important because like a commonly known fact, things near the top of the triangle are more important. In this case, the face/head is the main focus of the painting. Using a triangle, the painting allows you to focus your attention toward certain parts of the painting that the artist wants to emulate.
